Our client is a very well know and respect large organization in the Kitchener Waterloo area.  They can provide both short term and long term opportunities for challenges and career progression.  This position reports directly to the Tax Director of this group.  They are looking for a career minded individual, willing to contribute, learn and grow both in the short and long term

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring federal and provincial tax legislation changes and ensuring administration guideline changes are made including internal and external documentation, seeking input from the Director of Tax on interpretation matters.
  • Tax research and interpretation of the specific on going tax issues 
  • Accountable for the review of segregated fund and client trust T3 returns and other specialized tax reporting procedures.
  • Interpretation of CRA legislation and changes relating to Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act ('FATCA') and Common Reporting Standards ('CRS')
  • Tax research and reporting with respect to new types of plans added to the business
  • Prepare formal communications with Canadian tax authorities
  • Lead, direct, monitor and influence their administrative to ensure the processes are compliant with tax laws
  • Oversee, audit and govern tax administration work in the  functional units to ensure theri practice, procedures and system handling comply with current legislation. Recommend and monitor changes when needed
  • Staff development and mentoring to ensure tax knowledge is transferred and team members are trained
  • Participate in year-end tax production, review of other tax returns and assist with other projects.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Business, Economics discipline with a  specialization in accounting
  • 4-5 years of experience in tax legislation analysis and tax compliance/reporting
  • Possesses a CPA designation
  • Completion or already enrolled in the CPA's In-depth Taxation Program
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
